With the widely application of harmonious locomotive, it is found that locomotive’sdriving in shed is very inconvenient. The previous way of towing the DC locomotive is notsuitable for towing harmonious locomotive, so it is urgent for us to find on a new towing way.To solve the problem, this paper comes up with a high power energy storage and towing AClocomotive sysytm. It can transform the DC power in battery to three phase AC power thatcan be directly used by harmonious locomotive to supply energy.The principle of this system is that making110V DC power in battery boost to380V DCpower via Boost chopper,then the DC power inverters into three phase380V AC power.Combined inverter is adopt, which is composed of three single phase inverters. Battery mayappear a large current discharge for variable load, which may result in battery’s damage.According to the characteristics of the super capacitor(SC), a new circuit topology is putforward via improving the half-bridge circuit. It can compensate high power current, toprolong the service life of the battery. The way of single voltage loop control is adopt tocontrol the Boost chopper, and the voltage outer loop current feedback control method is usedto control the combined inverter. The way of hysteresis control is used to control the newtopology circuit for the battery overcurrent protection, and the predictive control is combinedwith the hysteresis control to compensate the delay time caused by actual application’s lag onthe process of device detection, judgement and action.The principle and control way of the Boost chopper circuit, the combined invertercircuit and the new topology circuit are analyzed in this paper, then those circuits aresimulated with the MATLAB/SIMULINK software. Finally the simulation results show thatthe system can realize the convert ablity, and the new topology circuit is also effective toprotect the battery.
