Urban Waterfront Interface Analysis

The urban waterfront area is where a city’s economic vitality and social vitalitylies，it’s also largely represent the city’s image. The urban waterfront become one ofthe objects of public concern of the urban planning study with its good image of thelandscape and the huge economic value, and the waterfront interface is the mosttypical public space of urban waterfront, it has a lot of contradictions concentrated.The different modes waterfront space has different characteristics and buildingrequirements, and it needs to meet the spatial behavior of different types of users.Building of the urban waterfront interface needs appropriate urban design thinking,based on the background of the waterfront area, city environmental characteristicsand user behavior.This article starts from the point of view of the urban design, with field research,questionnaire interviews, behavioral observations, and a variety of methods, studyingfrom architecture, psychology, behavioral and many others. Contrary to the two mostcommon waterfront interface function development model of the public waterfrontarea, the article selects two typical the Urban Waterfront interface types andresearches, which are the commercial financial function waterfront interface onbehalf of the old town’s waterfront public life development model, and the waterfrontinterface of business and leisure functions on behalf of the high intensity of the newcity development mode. The Author selects Xiamen city’s south of Lujiangdaowaterfront interface and Guanyinshan section of Huandaolu waterfront interface asrepresentative cases and conducts in-depth researches, studying and analyzingbackground, status and usage. And then, exploring the interaction between thesefactors, the writer derives interface design principles based on factors that affect theanalysis under the Waterfront. Of that the Waterfront interface design need to focuson the background factors, the physical environment to guide behavior and concernedabout the use of different user demand. The two modes the Waterfront interfacecharacteristics and development of the law are proposed in the article, and analyzedtheir respective prone to problems. The author hopes certain referential significanceto the development of other similar cases or transformation. The paper is divided into five parts: the first part includes the introduction and thetheory of basic research; the second part is the research of the two cases; the third partof the summary and analysis of the survey results; fourth part is concluded; fifth partis a summary of this article and the outlook for the future work.
