The management of urban water distribution system information and drinkingwater security technology had been one of the hot issues of social concern. In recentyears, heavy metal poisoning events occurred frequently due to the drinking watercontaminated by heavy metal so that the impact of heavy metals on the water qualityin the water distribution system also gradually caused widespread concern in theinternational community. Urban water supply network structure involved the safety ofdrinking water quality. And water distribution system information system is animportant foundation of the scientific management, hydraulic control and waterquality. Therefore, the establishing water distribution system information system, studying on the basis of changes in water quality of the water supply network and therelease of heavy metals was to protect the safety of water supply were of greatsignificance not only to improve the water quality and management of pipelineinformation by the relevant departments, but also maintain social stability. This thesis finished fundamental census work for water distribution system ofDistrict A to improve the area’s water supply pipeline database, combined with GISdevelopment platform for secondary development, further established themanagement system of the water distribution system information of District.Theconstruction of the information management system was divided into the major steps, the first step was to analyze water supply pipeline system framework and overalldemand, design their functional modules, and select ArcGIS Engine as a secondarydevelopment platform. Secondly, the carried out a census of the pipeline beforeestablished of the database by field data collection and office operation. Organizedand managed data by Access model in ArcGIS. Pipe network graphics stored werekept up with and attribute information integration. Finally, the integration of data andsecondary development to realize information system management functions.Research was based on the information of GIS management system of DistrictAs water distribution system. Firstly, set the sampling point before sampling in waterdistribution system to evaluate the variation of the water quality. Along with the extension of water supply line, various water quality indicators were rose. Singlefactor variable simulation experiments were based on a large number of formerstudies to selected most significantly influencing factors on heavy metal release. pH,immersion time, chloride ion, sulfate ion, flow velocity were the studied factors of therelease of heavy metals obviously. Decreasing velocity, increasing pH and heavymetal in the water did not have a negative impact on water quality. When the waterflow speed was of1.0to1.3m/s or above, there was significant heavy metal releasephenomenon. As and Fe was in positive correlation between the degree of net release.According to the study results, the proposals of control of operating conditions of thewater distribution system and water quality were put forward.
