With the development of people’s living standard, vacuum cleaners have become very popular inordinary families, and there is an increasing requirements for vacuum cleaners. In the competitivemarket, the efficiency and quality of the new product design have much impact on the futuredevelopment of the product. Therefore, the text raised the problem of how to consider structuraldesign and manufacturing method in vacuum cleaners’ development process based on the theappearance requirement in a parallel way. Research on these points would ensure the design efficiencyand guarantee the quality of the design of vacuum cleaners’ plastic parts. The text studies the appearance design of a vacuum cleaner, and selected one typical plastic partto analyze its structural design and its injection parameters in molding process. First, as plastic parts isthe major component of vacuum cleaner, a design process faced to the injection process of is given inthe text according to parallel design ideas. Then appearance design constraints is analyzed and anappearance of an upright vacuum cleaner project is proposed. Second, the text selects the dustchamber cover as a typical out-looking part and analyses its detail structural design constraints. Then, star contour method is introduced into the selection of plastic raw materials to select an proper one. Inaddition, the value of thickness, ribs and stripping slope of dust chamber cover’s detailed structure isanalyzed and the3D mold structure is also established. Third, analysis software Moldflow for plasticinjection flow simulation is introduced in as a test platform, to simulate and analyze the injection, packing and cooling process of dust chamber cover. At last, warpage problem of the plastic part istaken into consideration, and the orthogonal experiment method is applied to reduce the number ofsimulation experiments and to optimize the injection parameters to reduce the warpage value. Byorthogonal analysis of the test results, affection trends of various injection parameters on plastic partwarpage is obtained. From the experimental results, the appearance and structural design of the dust chamber cover isrealized in the injection process, and the warpage of the plastic part is controlled within a reasonablerange. Thesis provides a valid reference for the design and development process of plastic parts ofvacuum cleaner.
