The research of this paper is a vacuum cleaning vehicle which uses the negative pressure generated by the high pressure air blower to clean the road. The vacuum cleaning vehicle has advantages of high work efficiency, low maintenance cost, no second- time dust, etc. In some occasions which the traditional road sweeping vehicle is less efficient such as coal, wharf, etc, the vacuum cleaning vehicle can make good use of its advantages. It is generally composed of the chassis part, dust absorption system, dust collection system, fan and so on. As the core part of the vacuum cleaning vehicle, the improvement of the structure of the pneumatic system has great influence on the working performance of the vacuum cleaning vehicle.The main working medium of the pneumatic system is air and dust. In this paper, the physical properties and the flow rule of the air are described firstly, and the starting mechanism of the dust particles is studied. Through the comparison of the force of different dust particles, it is known that the impact force caused by the impact on the dust particles plays a key role. At the same time analyze the relationship between the dust particle size and the wind speed to provide theoretical guidance for the design of dust suction port.In the structure design of the dust suction port, the three-dimensional model of the parameters is established by Pro/E, which can realize the variable of all parameters and shorten the design cycle effectively. By analyzing the influence of the sucker width W, the diameter of the exhaust port D, the angle of inclination β, the contraction angle α and so on, the optimal solution is given. At the same time, by analyzing and comparing the flow field distribution of the traditional and improved vacuum cleaner with computational fluid dynamics, it’s indicated that the rationality of the improved design scheme.The gravity settling chamber is generally used as the first stage dust removal method of a vacuum cleaning vehicle, firstly, the main performance index of the structure design of the settling chamber is well-defined by the analysis of the dust removal mechanism. Secondly the structural form of the baffle in the settling chamber is studied. In this paper, two different types of baffles are designed, and the simulation of the flow field is simulated by CFD software to determine the optimum design of gravity settling chamber structure at last.
