In recent years, topological optimization is one of the frontier and hot issue in thestudy of the structure optimization. Compared with traditional design, topologicaloptimization makes structure more optimal in the layout. With more degrees of freedom,topological optimization design could get more benefits, it’s meaningful for us to studythe subject with theoretical and practical value. Based on the understanding of the basictheory and method of topological optimization, the paper makes a preliminary attemptand research on the application in the portal frame, specific work are as follows:(1) The evolutionary structural optimization method is a convenient and practicalmethod of topological optimization, it’s very valuable for us to use it in practicalengineering. In this paper, this method is applied to the optimal design of portal frame.The model is disposed by the abuttal entropy numerical filter method, then it discussesthe selection of parameters in various constraint conditions and optimization.(2) The process of topological optimization method of the ANSYS is present in thepaper, then the method was applied to the optimal design of box girder. Put the boxgirder’s stiffness and strength as constraint conditions, the structure weight as theoptimization goal, the weight of the structure was reduced through the optimization ofthe box girder, however, the stiffness and strength of box girder changed little.(3) The paper gives the topological optimization program which put the strength,the stiffness and the volume as the optimized target. Based on ANSYS softwareplatform, relying on the structural optimization design theory and ANSYS parametricdesign language APDL, the design program do research on the topological optimizationbased on Element Birth and Death.(4) Based on evolutionary structural optimization program developed by the APDL, the paper gives the multi-objective topology optimization of the column, the beamstructure and portal frame respectively. The feasibility and effectiveness of this methodhas been proved by the example.In short, it’s feasible and effective for us to introduced the evolutionary structuraloptimization method with programming into the structure design.
