With the constant improvement of urban infrastructure, the coverage of watersupply network is also growing. Take xi’an city as an example. Now we have watersupply capacity of1.58million cubic meters/day. The water area of about330squarekilometers, about1492km water supply pipeline, the provision of water supply servicesfor all types of users of Xi’an urban area of about3.34million population and industrial,commercial and administrative career. Tap water has become an indispensable part ofpeople’s lives. However, in recent years, accidents over the water supply pipes burstoccur frequently, not only resulted in the waste of water resources, also affect thenormal production of factories and enterprises, and a lot of inconvenience to people’sdaily life, causing unnecessary losses, at the same time, direct impact on the watersupply enterprises external image.In view of the huge harm that tube rupture brings to society, in this paper, I chosexi’an water pipe burst accident as the main line, statistics for the past five years theproportion of the number of accidents and various reasons, by real data cited mainreason for water supply pipeline burst pipes: Aging pipes, man-made damage,foundation settlement, climate, overlarge external pressure, lead leaking, substandardquality of construction, pipe quality, ground fissures, exhaust valve set incorrectly andso on. Focus on analysis of the background and current status of the various reasons,and to come up with strategies focus from the selection of water supply pipes, pipelineengineering design and construction, operation and management of pipe networkmaintenance, and expect from these improvements to reduce the frequent plumbingexplosion. Through analysis of the recent two typical examples of burst pipes, from the causeof the accident, the approach as well as the division of responsibilities, thereby causingthe thinking of accident prevention and disposal. This article also outlines several oftenused leak detection, and compare their advantages and disadvantages, and focuses onthe introduction of foreign advanced automatic monitoring system-networkinformation system (GIS system and SCADA systems), and Pama Lao leakage warningsystem. These systems played an important role in the further improving the scientificmanagement level of the water supply network and grasping water supply dynamics.Finally, the author propose to accelerate aging pipe network transformation,reasonable selection of pipe, to improve the construction technology, relying onscientific management, strengthen the emergency response, and legislation to protect thepipelines and other aspects, called for water supply enterprises and even the wholesociety concerned about incidents of burst pipes, and strive to reduce accident hazardsto the lowest point.
