Our country has a vast land and kinds of ethnic groups. Because of different kindsof natural environment and political geography, various forms of residential buildingshave been created.Tibetan has always been in the environment of complicated religiousculture and enclosure space. So it has maintained a good regional characteristics. It is animportant part in our residengtial acrchitecture, and also a carrier of unique culturallandscape, religious and cultural on the plateau. Researching Tibetan settlemengts andits residential building and analyzing its geographical characteristics is particularlyimportant in today’s continuing urbanization development and cultural convergence.Religious culture is an important factor in traditional social and cultural ofTibetan. It has deeply affected on the Tibetan architecture of settlement vernacular andall aspects of their lives. Choosing Tibetan village which has the essential characteristicsof Tibet an houses as the subject and researching on the unique village named nalagang,this paper illustrates from the religious and cultural by using architecture and urbanplanning of professional theory as well as the natural environment, humangepgraphy,cultural origin, religious and other related theories through masteringfiest-hand informantion of Nalagang village xiangcheng township settlement andvernacular buildings by investigation and mapping as well as analysising the villagecomperehensive with the existing informantion. The paper explores the impact ofreligious cultural on overall layout, constitute elements, as well as residential buildingconstruction, functiondal shapes, decorative techniques and other adpects. And it slsorefers to a small part of the local religious building. On this basis, by combing the results of previous studies and summarizing research by comparsion with othersettlements and its residential buildings, to improve the content of the Tibetanstudies.And we could have a comprehensive summary of the region of Tibetan religionand culture as a whole connotation of the settlement Vernacular Architecture. It is hopedthat the results of the study will provide the scientific basis for guiding reference ofvernacular architecture update, original style protection in nalagang village xiangchengtowmship which is facing tourism development.
