With regulations tightened, diesel particulate filter (DPF) as one of the mosteffective means of diesel particulate emission control, will be widely applied. DPFregeneration control strategy determines fuel consumption and DPF security. In thispaper, DPF regeneration control strategy is designed and optimized and its effectivenessis proven through the simulation model.AVL Boost is used to create simulation models for the diesel engine andaftertreatment system. Experimental data is used to calibrate and verify the models. Thesimulation models are used to do some basic simulation study to learn some basic laws.Matlab Simulink is used to integrate the two models. Regeneration control strategy isdesigned using Matlab Simulink. The control strategy built in Simulink is easy tomaintenance and transplantation.In order to control the regeneration more precisely, simple diesel oxidation catalyst(DOC) and DPF mathematical models are developed. Closed-loop control strategy isdesigned based on the mathematical models. Amount of particulate matters in DPF iscalculated using the mathematical models. The real-time fuel injection quantity isobtained by numerical calculation using the mathematical models and the feedbackcorrection according to the actual temperature, thus form a closed-loop control. Thesimulation model is also used to optimize the control strategy in many aspects.According to the simulation results, different DPF temperature rise rate and DPF inlettemperature target can be used in different engine working conditions and in differentstages of the regeneration, so that the regeneration fuel consumption can be minimizedunder the premise of safety. The DPF regeneration control system hardware is alsodesigned and made. The system contains a16-bit MCU, high-power drive circuit,communication module etc.The control strategy is optimized in many ways and simulated using the intergratedsimulation model. And the control strategy proved to have good performance in termsof fuel economy, pollution, and thermal security.
