The bridge deck system composed of orthotropic steel decks and35~80mm asphaltconcrete layer is widely used for large and medium span steel bridge, but different degreesof early-age failures in bridge deck have been generally experienced on many bridges,because that compressive effects with complexity of its structure, otherness of materialcharacteristics between steel and asphalt concrete, and variability of traffic environment,which seriously effects the process of steel bridge modernization and normal usage. Inallusion to the problems, this paper is based on the purpose to increase local rigidity ofbridge deck, except the mechanical properties of composite bridge deck system composedof steel bridge deck and various concrete, it also studies the optimization of operational andeconomical performance compared with orthotropic steel bridge deck system, whichestablishes the finite-element model by ANSYS and integrates the typical structure of largeand medium span steel bridge. The main content includes:(1) The improvement of local rigidity, stress peak and fatigue stress amplitude ofcomposite bridge deck system by Reactive Powder Concrete (RPC) layer replacing asphaltconcrete layer with same thickness in the large span steel bridge; the degree of influence onmechanical work environment of each component using the structure compositelight-weight concrete or Reactive Powder Concrete (RPC) with steel plate for the mediumspan steel bridge.(2) The sensitivity and internal law of the variation of mechanical eigenvalue incomposite bridge deck system of large span steel bridge, under the influence of thickness ofsteel top plate, longitudinal rib and RPC, when they are regarded as typical parameters. Theappropriate parameters applied to disease diagnosis, design optimization and safety stockare got by analyzing the optimization of composite bridge deck system corresponding onone-parameter, two-parameter and multiple parameter, which must be on the premise thatcan’t reduce mechanical property of original steel bridge.(3) The suitable thickness of common concrete used in the medium span bridge underthe limitation of properties. Lateral comparison of mechanical properties among composite bridge deck systems with different concrete materials but the same economic performance.(4) Meanwhile describing the function, classification, failure mode and design of shearconnector, this paper also provides the arrangement and parameter index applied to largespan composite steel bridge deck system according to relevant standard and research results.
