Although the orthotropic bridge deck has its unique advantages,due to the problems of the traditional orthotropic bridge deck with complex structure and details,it is prone to fatigue cracking problems,which seriously affects and restricts the structure performance.Europe,the United States,Japan,and China have carried out a lot of research work in order to solve the problem of fatigue cracking of orthotropic bridge decks and hve greatly improved the anti-fatigue performance of orthotropic bridge decks.However,the fatigue problem has not really been eliminated.Fatigue crack of orthotropic bridge can result from load and out-of-plane deformation.Fatigue crack caused by load is typical of longitudinal rib butt weld.Fatigue crack caused by out-of-plane deformation is mainly in rib to deck welds and rib to transverse rib welds.Therefore,it is necessary to examine the stress distribution of orthotropic bridge decks from two indicators of stress amplitude and out-of-plane deformation.This paper proposes a new kind of orthotropic bridge deck structure.The bridge deck is mainly composed of upper plate,corrugated steel plate and lower plate.All components are connected by bolts,which can greatly reduce the number of welds.Due to the compositional features of the new structure,the cross section can form a truss structure,making it possible to transmit the force laterally.The new structure can greatly increase the transverse rigidity of the cross-section,making the cross-section transverse and longitudinal force more uniform.It is expected to fundamentally solve the problem that the orthotropic bridge deck is prone to fatigue cracking.This paper will study the force characteristics of the new bridge deck and compare it with the traditional bridge deck.The main research contents of this article are:(1)Based on the traditional structure,this paper proposes the force system of the new structure.The transverse to longitudinal stress ratios of the fatigue points of the deck are examined through finite element model.The results prove that the force of the new structural is even uniform and reasonable.(2)This paper uses the stress amplitude and out-of-plane deformation amplitude as indexes.Then the fatigue properties of the two structures were investigated by finite element model method.Through the preliminary finite element analysis,the vulnerable fatigue points of the two structures were identified,and the loads were added of each point through their most unfavorable conditions.Except for the lower deck area,the fatigue conditions of the new structure are all superior to the traditional one.It is a potential orthotropic bridge deck structure.(3)Through the method of finite element analysis,the influence of the parameter changes on the fatigue vulnerable points is investigated,and two new parameter combination schemes for the new orthotropic structure is established.The research shows that the new orthotropic bridge deck without transverse ribs will become a further research direction.
