Due to tunnel spoil and cut slope spoil in the Guanggan highway construction, there willbe a lot of abandoned phyllite. If we can take advantage of these abandoned phyllite material,significant highway construction benefits can be achieved. Also the protection of theecological environment at the same time can play a good role. But because of abandonedphyllite material is formed by the different excavation methods, so they have differentmixture gradation, and show the inconsistent features in many aspects. So based on the widehighway construction and predecessors’ experience, do some corresponding gradationcharacteristics research of the abandoned phyllite.After investigation of the abandoned phyllite in Guanggan highway construction foundthat phyllite abandon material can be divided into two types-broken abandoned phyllite andcomplete abandoned phyllite, then carrying out confining compressive tests respectively forthe two different types. Analyze broken abandoned phyllite and complete abandonedphyllite’s gradation change under different level of100-800kPa pressure. And use the unevencoefficient of Cu, curvature coefficient of Cc, grading curve of the integral value to analyzethe gradation changes, then get the gradation change and indicators of roken abandonedphyllite and complete abandoned phyllite under the action of static pressure. Abandonedphyllite is a mixture of different size particles, and have the fractal characteristics, therefore toapply fractal theory to the abandoned phyllite to analyze its gradation properties, combinedwith lateral compression test, do the fractal dimension values calculation of broken abandonedphyllite and complete abandoned phyllite under different stress level, and to analyze itsgradation based on the results of previous studies.Although the classification of abandoned phyllite has been carried, but there is need dosome research on grain size distribution under different grain group case of abandonedphyllite, thus divided the abandoned phyllite into0.51mm,1-2mm,2-5mm,5-10mm,10-20mm,20-40mm,40-80-mm and80-110,110-130mm,130mm-170-mm particlefraction. And analyze their gradation situation, using the breaking rate and other evaluation.index to analyze each grain group’s grading situation, and finally using super size processingmethod on the whole simulation of abandoned phyllite to compare their s gradation changeunder different compaction work.
