In mountainous area construction and development is particularly important in ourcountry, mountain is not only influence the water conservation, soil and water loss, droughtand flood disasters important area. At the same time, it is rich in resources and also is animportant part of the development of China’s economic construction. However in mountaintunnel highway construction lots of excavation, cutting slope abandon, abandon slag willproduce a large amount of phyllite, meanwhile mountainous area highway embankmentfilling materials is not convenience in transportation, and also have a soil source shortageproblem. If you can put these phyllite abandoned material used as embankment fillingmaterials which can not only play the role of protecting the ecological environment, but alsocan reduce the costs for the construction of highway and eventually has significant economicand social benefits. But phyllite abandoned material is easy to weathering, low strength andpoor stability of water such so many characteristics, whether it will be used as embankmentfilling materials, and how to used as embankment filling materials are not known. Also thereis no technical standard and unified standard can depend on. To this end, this paper widelycombine (Guangyuan to Sichuan and Gansu boundary) highway construction,, on the basisof summarizing predecessors’ research data from the phyllite abandoned material’s physicaland mechanical characteristics, engineering features and adding cement improvement,through indoor experiment gradually systematic analyze phyllite abandoned material which isused for highway in mountainous area as embankment filling material, this paper analyzes theapplication, the main research results are as follows:1. Based on the research of the degree of hard and soft rock classification, the degree ofhardness and softness of phyllite is determined. Based on this starting point from micromineral structure, composition to analyze the mineral composition of phyllite, the resistant todisintegration and swelling test, do the preliminary judge of the phyllite abandoned materialto be used widely in Guanggan highway embankment filling and its feasibility.2. Through a large number of screening test and the use of mathematical statisticalmethod to preliminarily determines the phyllite natural grain size distribution situation, at the same time use the phyllite abandoned material do heavy compaction test, the surface vibrationtest and shaking table test and systematic studied the phyllite grain breakage characteristics,super size processing method and the super size particle density characteristics, analysis andstudy the influence of humidity on the above characteristics.3. By adding cement into phyllite abandoned material for heavy compaction test, thebearing ratio test and compression test, contrast analysis and study the phyllite abandonedmaterial’s engineering characteristics before and after the improvement, and from the point ofhighway subgrade to inherit the driving load repeatedly, improved by cyclic loadingcompression simulation in the process of phyllite abandoned as embankment filling materialto see whether it meet the deformation law and its main influencing factors.
