Snow on the pavement and bridge deck around a lot of mountain highway tunnelentrance affects driving capacity and traffic safety in the winter. A variety of methods are putforward by transportation scientific research department all over the world to solve thisproblem of road snow. These methods play effects on removing road ice and snow. However, many methods in the special sections of the highway has limitations such as tunnel entrance, bridges, mountains, large longitudinal slope and so on. Therefore, it’s particularly critical toselect and use reasonable snowmelt methods in the special section of the highway trafficsafety. In order to solve the problem that snow on the bridge deck around mountain highwaytunnel entrance affects driving safety, according to local conditions, by burying heat pipes inthe bridge deck pavement near the tunnel entrance, tunnel spring water, the renewableresources which can be recycled, is used to melt deck snow as hot fluid medium. The methodis easy to use.It has simple structure and low production costs, which not only achieves thepurpose of conservation of existing resources, but also can eliminate driving safety hazard ofroad ice and snow in winter. Moreover, it’s the first of its kind in the country, and has broadapplication prospects. The main research contents include:(1) Describing the compositionand operating principle of this new system of mountain spring water heated to melt the decksnow. From energy conservation point of view, analyzing energy of the deck snowmelt system, establishing the appropriate mathematical model and elaborating basic mathematicalcalculations of snowmelt load calculation.(2) Establishing bridge deck two-dimensionalsteady state temperature field model for numerical simulation by using finite differencemethod and finite element software, studying the influence law of deck surface temperaturefield and heat flux which can directly reflects the physical characteristics of the roadsnowmelt process under different depth of pipe, pipe spacing, asphalt pavement layerthickness, the water temperature of the tunnel hot spring water, surface wind speed andambient temperature conditions. Studying best pipe network design based on the efficiency ofheat transfer and snowmelt.(3) Departure from the vehicle load, using Finite elementsoftware to simulate, studying the influence of vehicle load on the special deck of deicing or snowmelt and structural mechanics analysis of bridge deck pavement buried heat pipes.Analyzing the influence of different pipe spacing and depth, different pavement structurecombination, thickness of the pavement, overload, horizontal forces on the bridge deckpavement structure. From the angle of the force structure of the pavement, identifying andverifying the pipe deck snowmelt system composition of the pavement structure and pipenetwork layout scheme.(4)According to the geography and temperature environment of thetest road, determining the layout plan of the deck snowmelt system and laying deck snowmelttest road with diffuse water and buried pipe, conducting field pipe water test, to ensure thesmooth operation of the system.
