Roundabout has played a very important role in the history of the development of urban road traffic. However, with the rapid development of the national economy, urban road traffic is increasing, roundabout access efficiency is severely reduced. In order to improve the traffic conditions of the roundabout, the major domestic adopted a general signal cross around the island plus signal control or dismantling of change around the island, around the island plus signal controlled intersections, with increasing traffic pressure, the delay time of the vehicle with the change. then in this case, what should be taken which method to solve the traffic congestion and obstruction is urgent need to consider and address the problem. Based on the analysis of Xi’an South Second Ring Road Zhuque roundabout around the environment, which, on the basis of location, traffic control, and traffic characteristics, Zhuque roundabout traffic control measures have been optimized.The paper studies the advantages and disadvantages of roundabouts, the applicable conditions, elements, as well as the division of the region. the current status of the South Second Ring Road Zhuque roundabout investigation and analysis, including the surrounding environment, road conditions, traffic conditions and traffic management conditions. After an analysis of survey data on Zhuque roundabout, the roundabout capacity and vehicle delay for quantitative analysis and calculation, obtained the average delay time; and draw traffic under certain conditions, the relative signal the longer the period, the lower the utilization of the island conclusions. Secondly, Zhuque roundabout from the regional road network optimization, signal timing optimization and other traffic control measures put forward measures to improve Zhuque roundabout. Finally, on the center island of Zhuque roundabout geometry, weaving section, Ring Road, import and export lane width, number of lanes and other design parameters analysis, application of vissim simulation software to optimize Zhuque roundabout signal after the program simulation results show that the signal optimization, the delay time of the vehicle significantly reduced, improving the utilization and capacity of the island.
