Prestressing technology has been widely used in bridge engineering since1930s, andmore than70percent of bridges are of the prestressed concrete structures currently. However,in the process of its application, some structural damages have been found in many PCbridges, especiallyin those existed bridges these years. The structural damages mainlyconsist of two aspects: concrete deterioration and prestressed loss of steel tendons. For thesafty of bridges, the level of effective prestress of the existing bridge is important,which alsohas a vital role in structure strengthening in many damaged bridges. Current studies aboutinspection and evaluation can not be adopted in practical engineering because they are underthe process of testing and theoretical research And a lot of problems has not been solved.The research is based on test apparatus of prestressed cable tension(Model: LCZL-50)which is researched and development by Chang’an University, an optimization design andparameter study of new apparatus have been studied in this paper in order to reduce thestructural dimension and weight.. The researches are mainly focused on the design of thegeometry of structure, cross-sectional characteristics and materials behavior as well as theanchor length of steel tendon while the apparatus is used in practical engineering.The processof optimization can be divided into four steps:(1) Reduce the dimension of apparatus.(2) Make a parameter analysis about the anchor length of steel tendon, and to revise theassessment methods of tension in the apparatus.(3) Adjust the sectional dimensions of the apparatus.(4) Adjust material properties of the apparatus.The results show that lateral force and lateral displacement basically have linearrelationship in the loading process. Moreover, an optimization apparatus has been abtained byparameter studies and the calculation results show that it has good mechanical behaviorand feature of portability and miniaturization. All these characteristics can ensure its accuracyand practicability in practial bridge engineering.
