Along with the rapid development of smart substation in China, the smart substationconstruction also carried out together, in full swing. Smart substation has features ofadvanced, low-carbon, reliable, integrated, environmental protection and so on.Electronic transformers have been applied gradually in smart substation because of manyadvantages. This paper is about the related issues of electronic transformers’ practicality,the paper’s main work is as follows:(a) The construction ideas of smart grid in different countries have been discussed.Having indicated that smart substation is an important part of smart grid. The paperanalyzed the status of research work in this area and the advantages of electronictransformers.(b) Having studied the protocol of GB/T20840-7/8and DL/T860about the digitaloutput of electronic transformers. Resolve the digital output protocol. A design ofmerging unit based on ARM9and FPGA has been put forward. Finish the design both thehardware and software. At last, the application of merging unit has been analyzed.(c) On the basis of the analysis of the electronic transformer error sources, pointed outthat the data synchronization problem. A method has been put forward. The success ofthe algorithm implemented in the FPGA and test, prove the school definite standardmethod is very effective.(d) A calibration system has been designed.We successfully apply this calibrationsystem to the accuracy test of electronic transformers in a smart substation.Finally, we carried out a lot of type test on the prototype design, including theaccuracy test, temperature cycling stability experiments. The experiments proved that theelectronic transformer prototype meets the requirements with good accuracy and stability.
