ITER which is a large-scale superconducting tokamak used for nuclear fusionresearch is being constructed. The DC Reactor is an important equipment for restrainingloop current and ripple current in the ITER PF converter power supply system. Accordingthe operating requirements, the reactor cooled by water will have the inductance of200μH, operate under27.5kA rated current and175kA peak current. As the special DCReactor with much higher parameters cannot be purchased in the market, so thepreliminary design and the processing scheme under the input parameter requirements willbe finished in this thesis.A new water-cooling dry-type air-core reactor using the hollow copper or aluminumtube as the conductor is designed in this paper. Each conductor is spiral wound as severalturns. Several conductors are paralleled axially as one unit. Several units are superimposedin series as a whole reactor with needed inductance. The detailed structure parameters arecalculated by the theoretical formula, and then the structure is optimized by theelectromagnetic simulation with ANSYS. In order to design more conveniently, a softwarethat aims to get the structural parameters of DC reactor faster and simulation optimizationis developed by C#and ANSYS.Based on the structural parameters from the calculation, the thermal and dynamicstability analyses are performed to verify the temperature and stress at rated current andpulsed current, the analysis results show that the temperature and stress meet therequirements. Considering the installing of converter power supply system, the coupledrelation of neighboring reactors is analyzed for a reasonable mounting distance. In order toevaluate the design, a modular prototype is designed to test for getting some parameters.Through the structural optimal design, and the dynamic and thermal stability analysis, the DC Reactor designed in this thesis can satisfy the requirement of ITER PF converterpower supply system.
