Current economic situation in China shows that the power demand is increasingceaselessly. In order to solve the contradiction between power supply and demand, peopleconstantly broaden energy range. In recent years, because the environmental problems aremore prominent and the coal resources are limited, thermal power construction has beenappropriately restricted, hydropower has been substantially developed, nuclear power、new energy and renewable energy power generation has been actively promoted. After afew years, the contradiction between power supply and demand can be solved. But, thelack of peak modulation capacity and how to regulate the impact which is brought by theinstability of new energy power generation to the power system become new problems.Nuclear power and new energy power generation are not easy to participate in power gridmodulation, the expense of thermal power participating in modulation is too high, due tothe limitation of the water resources, hydropower can’t completely meet the demand ofpower modulation. Therefore, constructing proper proportion of pumped storage powerstation is the inevitable choice of our country’s long-term development of electric system,also in favor of optimizing power structure.Pumped storage power station transient process and control is the most key factor todecide whether it can play a regulatory role in the power grid, is the important factor in thesafe and stable operation of machine set, and directly influence its cooperation with windpower and other new energy power generation. Therefore, research on pumped storagepower station transient process and control is very important. For pumped storage powerstation transient process control, optimizing the guide vane closing law is the mostimmediate and effective method. According to transient process and control requirementsof our country’s a few pumped storage power stations, this article carries out the relatedresearch, the research content mainly includes the following aspects:(1)The research on the application of the characteristic line method in pumped storagepower station transient process calculation;(2)Research on modeling reversible machine set transient process calculation and transient process calculating condition proposing;(3)Analysis on turbine load shedding condition and water pump failing power conditionand the research on their guide vane closing laws.
