Virtual reality based on computer technology, at the same time, with the help ofother output devices, can vivid3D virtual scene. A simulation of the real world existsobjectively, or simulation of a people to imagine the trance. It is an advancedtechnology of hardware and software technologies combined.With a cylindrical gear reducer as the research object, using Pro/engineerparametric modeling, based on the analysis of reducer assembly process and workprinciple, using of virtual reality software VRML, Cult3d, HTML and JAVAprogramming technology, through the establishment of human-computer interface,develop a virtual mapping platform, achieve the animation process of a cylindrical gearreducer to virtual dismount and map.In this study a class is the application of virtual reality technology in the gearreducer of Surveying and mapping course and technical personnel training in teaching,not only solved the most colleges and universities teaching venue inadequacies, the lossof parts and components damage and other problems, but also to enable students tobetter understand the speed reducer, the detailed structure of the assembly relation andwork principle, understand the mapping method and process of common mechanicalparts, improve their engineering consciousness and sense of participation, and improvethe students study interest and enthusiasm.This paper is divided into5parts, the first chapter of introduction; the secondchapter introduces the classic design of a cylindrical gear reducer3D parametricmodeling; the third chapter introduces a cylindrical gear reducer; the fourth chapterintroduces a cylindrical gear reducer virtual mapping platform; the fifth chapterintroduces a cylindrical gear reducer virtual mapping platform.
