The steel cement-soil mixing wall in the excavation engineering of reverseconstruction used as a temporary retaining structure is a common foundation pitsupport type. In this paper, Human civil air defense project is an engineering instance, investigated the problem of the reverse construction and SMW method in the designand construction. Through measured and numerical simulation analysis, summarizedthe foundation pit deformation law. The main contents include the following areas:1. Introduction reverse construction technology, combined with the Humen civilair defense projects, describes the construction points of reverse construction process, earth excavations, concrete construction, the construction of the column pile and pitdewatering etc. There are some technical difficulties, such as controlling ofdifferential settlement, setting of unearthed port, and settings of the construction joints. The paper proposed some solutions.2. Gives the design method and construction processes of SMW, research everydesign process. Combined with Humen civil air defense projects, discussed the SMWmethod of construction processes and construction points, and proposed qualitycontrol measures.3. Summarized the excavation monitoring technology. Discussed several issues offoundation pit monitoring include the monitoring project selection, the frequency ofmonitoring and the warning value. Analyzed the monitoring results, include thehorizontal displacement at the top of SMW retaining structure, the deep horizontaldisplacement of soil, subsidence of the surrounding buildings, and verticaldisplacement of column pile.4. The large FEM software Midas/GTS is used to analyze the foundation pitdeformation of the process in reverse construction, include the settlement of theground, horizontal displacement of the surface of the soil, horizontal displacement ofthe SMW and deep horizontal displacement of the soil. The result of the finite elementmethod is compared to the result of the measuring.
