With the improvement of vehicle lightweight and crashworthiness, hot stampingof high strength steel technology has been widely used. Hot stamping technology hasbeen deeply researched for many years in Europe and other developed countries. Thehot stamping dies are mainly imported from those countries, and at present fewrelevant data and results are published in domestic. Hot stamping mold coolingsystem design is a bottleneck in mold design and hot stamping technology. Emulationtechnique is undoubtedly the most effective tool to study on hot stamping.Research though test and simulation study on U-shape hot stamping mouldcooling system, main work are as follows:1A heat transfer test apparatus is build to obtain the heat transfer coefficients.Design and manufacture the heating and insulating plate, which are match with thetest mould. The heat transfer parameters, include mould thermal conductivity and heatcapacity are obtained by combined the heating test and simulation results withoutcooling water. Heating test with cooling water verify the calculated coefficient ofcooling water heat convection and mould thermal conductivity, which lays afoundation for improving hot forming simulation accuracy.2Hot stamping experiments with5different cooling systems are carried out. Thecooling system can be modified by controlling the switch of cooling water pipe. Theinfluence of die cooling system to forming quality of the hot stamping part is beenanalyzed by compare the mechanical properties metallographic structure. Thisresearch is meaningful to the hot stamping die cooling system design, and providedusful experiment data for carrying out research work about simulation method.3The simulation method of hot stamping is been studied. Use the calculatedcoefficient, the hot stamping forming process with5different cooling systems arebeen simulated. Results showed the temperature had no much difference betweenpredicted and measured. This proves that the simulation model is accurate, and alsothe simulation software can be used to evaluate the cooling system design.
