Reactive Powder Concrete (RPC) techno lo gy is a new strengthe ning method toreinforce the concrete structure whic h formed a reinforced thin la yer by co mbiningRPC and reinforc ing stee l fabric, both the re inforce ment layer and thepre-co mponent work harmonio us ly as a who le. The compatib ility betwee n the twomateria ls ca n be ensured, as the materia l property o f RPC and norma l concrete isvery c lose. Bes ides, well mec ha nica l properties, durab ility a nd corrosio n resis tanceperformance is a lso provided with the RPC. The mec hanica l properties of me mbersreinforced with this method can be improved s ignificantly but with littleenlarge me nt o f sectio n area, and the other performance ind icators is a lso improvedin so me degree. Howe ver, there is a lmost no stud ies for this me thod applied in thestrengthening fie ld. There fore, there is a great advanta ge and wide ly developprospect in the field of industrial and civil building reinforcement.Five RC columns are tested by one-off axia l load in this test, whic h ma inlycons idered the e ffect on the reinforce ment with the two factors of re inforce me ntla yer RPC co mpressive strength and the configuratio n of reinforced steel fabric, theresults o f4strengthened co lumns were co mpared with a nother one co ntrast ivecolumn. The test results s howed that RPC strengthe ning method is a n effectivestrengthening method whic h can increase the bearing capac ity, peak strain, crackingload, ductility and anti-crack ing ability of strengthe ned column. Meanwhile, themec hanica l performa nce, d istrib utio n patterns of crack and fa ilure modes ofstrengthened co lumns are a lso improved e ffective ly. Bes ides, the calc ulatingformulas for bearing capacity of the strengthe ned co lumn is gave in this paper, bywhic h the ca lcula ted va lue corresponds we ll with the test res ults. Accord ing to thetest results, the calc ulatio n formula o f peak strain for core concrete of strengthenedcolumn is establis hed and the constitutive re latio n model for constra ined column isput forward.Using ANSYS no nlinear finite ele me nt ana lys is so ftware to simula te theload ing process of tested columns, the theoretica l bearing capacity and the stressdistrib utio n for co ncrete, reinforce me nt la yer RPC and s teel, the s ituation of crackdevelop me nt a nd d istrib utio n are obta ined, the res ults o f mode l are co mpared withthe test va lues for the purpose to testify the correctness o f conc lus ion a nd the rationality of formula.
