Based on the research of reactive powder concrete and uniaxial compression columns at domestic and international, the experimental study of twenty reactive powder concrete(RPC) columns under uniaxial compression was carried out, which have different slenderness ratio. Utilizing the finite element program ABAQUS simulates the experimental progress of these columns under uniaxial compression loading. In addition, the reliability of RPC concrete under the uniaxial compression loading was analyzed in the paper. The main work of this paper is as the following:1. The basic principle and the research progress of reactive powder concrete have been introduced briefly and it is pointed out that this new material has broad application prospect in engineering construction. The research results of the uniaxial compression columns at domestic and international are summarized, and the necessity of the research on the mechanical properties of RPC column under uniaxial compression loading is presented.2. The production and static test of the twenty RPC columns was completed. In the experiment, the strain and deflection of the columns have been measured and we have obtained a large number of important experiment data on ultimate bearing capacity. The change of stress state and the failure pattern of RPC columns under uniaxial compression loading have been observed, and the load-strain curves and load-deflection curves of RPC columns under uniaxial compression loading has been recorded. A comparative analysis of the stability coefficient between RPC concrete column and ordinary concrete column has been done.3. By using commercial software ABAQUS, a nonlinear finite element model of RPC concrete column under uniaxial compression is established. The load-strain curves and the stress nephograms of damage have been compared between nonlinear finite element model and experimental results.4. The reliability calculation program of RPC concrete column under uniaxial compression is compiled. Using the program to analyse the reliability of the ulitimate capacity of RPC columns under uniaxial compression, and discuss the influences of strength grades of concrete, different load combinations, specific values of loads, and slenderness ratio on the reliability index of the uniaxial columns.
