With the development of nuclear power, more attentions are paid on the safty problemsof the nuclear power plants. Several past large-scale catastrophic incidents manifest that thenuclear power plants’ aseismic capacity needs to do the further research, and the nuclearcontainment is the last security barrier of the nuclear power plants, so it is a great significantto do the aseismic research on it.This paper carries out the vibration table test of aseismic and base-isolated which arebased on the1:15subscale modal of nuclear containment, then using ANSYS to do the finiteelement analysis. Comparing the results of test and finite element analysis, assessing aseismicperformance of nuclear containment’s general structure and base-isolated structure under thereaction of earthquake.First designing and making a1:15reduded scale model of a nuclear containment whichis based on the similarity ratio theory, applying the counterweight on it to establish nuclearcontainment structure’s less artificial quality model, and using the dimension analysis methodto deduce the similarity guidelines which the test model obey to and similarity ratio of eachphysical variables. In accordance with the reference code, selecting and adjusting theearthquake waves which meet the actual site condtions, then doing the nuclear containmentgeneral structure’s earthquake vibration table test under the raction of earthquake waveswhose peak is0.1g、0.2g、0.3g, the record shows the acceleration、diaplacement、strain on thekey position of nuclear containment. Using the MATLAB to analysis the test data, andobtaining the dynamic feature and dynamic response discipline of nuclear containmentaseismic model.Based on the reduced scale model of nuclear containment structure, selecting the naturalrubber isolation cushion as the nuclear containment structure’s isolation layer to establishnuclear containment’s base-isolated model. And checking the vertical bearing capacity andhorizontal displacement of isolation layer with the parameters of the nuclear containment’sreduced scale model to ensure the parameters of isolation layers meet the test requirements.Then according to the selecting principles and adjusting method to select and adjust theearthquake waves, next doing the nuclear containment base-isolatd vibration table test underthe raction of earthquake waves whose peak is0.152g、0.304g、0.608g. Based on the analysis of test response data, giving the dynamic feature and dynamic response discipline of nuclearcontainment base-isolated model.Finally, establishing the nuclear containment’s traditional aseismic and base-isolatedintegral finite element model, considering the nuclear containment’s boundary conditions、counterweight and other influent factors systematically, treating the acceleration of vibrationtable’s workplane as the input earthquake wave to do the modal analysis and timehistoryresponse analysis of traditional aseismic and base-isolated model respectively. And thencomparing the results of vibration table test and numerical simulation, assessing the aseismicand base-isolated performance of the nuclear containment structure comprehensively.The study shows that the nuclear containment traditional aseismic model has a bigstiffness, the input earthquake wave is enlarged by it, but the margin is not obvious, theseindicate that the nuclear containment traditional aseismic model has a good aseismic capacity.The nuclear containment base-isolated model can limit the seimisc force transfer to the topstructure, achieving the purpose of reducing the top structure’s seismic response; the wholenuclear containment structure dose the rigid body translational, lateral diaplacement is large,all this produces in the islation layer. Comparative study of the nuclear containment’saseismic and base-islated capacity in this paper can offer consultation for the aseismicperformance analysis of nuclear power plants’ containment.
