Diversified development of architectural modeling and structure forms has become oneof the characteristics in design of modern space grid structure. Architects don’t adhere tothe existing architectural modeling or particular exterior shape of the buildings; they changethe traditional shape of space grid structures so that the buildings can show a more aestheticshape. Heterotypic space grid structure can meet the requirements of various building curvedsurface modeling, it is being used in buildings more and more widely. But it caused manydifficulties to model building and updating. In view of these problems, this dissertationmainly studied the methods of fast prototyping and optimization design of heterotypic spacegrid structure.Firstly, according to the forms and characteristics of the heterotypic space grid structure,this research paper seeks to apply surface fitting technology in model building and achievefree surface fitting of heterotypic space grid structure by means of Griddata function and v4algorithm of Matlab, furthermore, through automatically pyramid added to finish theheterotypic space grid structure model. Finally, a fast prototyping program for the heterotypicspace grid structure is developed on the basis of Matlab.The heterotypic space grid structure is a typical discrete rod structure, taken the structurewhole mass as an objective function, the structural optimum mathematical model isestablished in this dissertation, and an advanced two-level optimization method is presentedfor the heterotypic space grid structure, which is combined with discrete variableoptimization design theory and relative difference quotient algorithm. In the process ofoptimization, not only the local constraints such as stress ratio, slenderness ratio is beingconsidered, but also global constraints such as the whole stability and displacementconstraints is being considered. Besides, based on structural geometrical nonlinearity, theoptimization process is combined with approximate full-stress design method, relativedifference quotient method and arc-length method. An optimization design program isdeveloped for the heterotypic space grid structure on the basis of the method. The method inthis dissertation is verified by a numerical example and the result shows that the method isefficient and reliable.Based on the research achievements of this paper, taken the free surface grid structure of XILINGOL LEAGUE Sports Center Stadium bleachers as background, by means of the fastprototyping program for the heterotypic space grid structure and the two-level optimizationdesign method proposed in this dissertation, the model is established and optimized designed,the computational result is economical.The analysis shows that the fast prototyping software can be convenient and quick toestablish a variety of building free surface model of space grid structure. In addition, with thehelp of the advanced two-level optimization method in this dissertation it can effectivelyreduce the quantity of steel used in structure, this work has practical engineering value.
