As one of the most important fluid mechanical, the centrifugal fan is used as essentialventilation equipment in our daily production and living. How to improve the efficiency ofthe fan, expand its operating condition range also is an important research of the energysaving. In this paper, I will simulate and study the aerodynamic performance of thesingle-stage centrifugal fan by finite element numerical simulation method,in order toimprove the design efficiency and design quality of the fan, and provide a reference for newcentrifugal fan design.In this paper,we will take the9-26-14.5D single-stage centrifugal fan as research subject,use the Pro/Engineer software set the model of the fan, which including its import andexport pipeline, and use the professional meshing software Gambit meshing to divide thegridding. Finally, the FLUENT13.0numerical simulation was compared with theexperimental values to determine the most realistic numerical simulation method. On the baseof the chosen numerical simulation method, this paper re-designs the blades and comparessimulation solution with the experiment.The performance of centrifugal fan was test by using the existing experimental condition.The shaft power of centrifugal fan cannot be directly measured. The shaft power can becalculate indirectly through the measurement of motor working current and voltage. And thecharacteristic curves of centrifugal fan can be obtained at the same time.According to the internal flow of centrifugal fan, some working conditions werecalculated in order to get influence of performance parameters caused by flow rate changes.Blade optimal design has been done to improve the efficiency of centrifugal fans. The resultsbetween numerical simulation and experimental still has certain deviation, but the pressure,flow rate, power has the same trend.The numerical simulation and analysis about the uneven cover of impeller inlet side havebeen done. When the impeller inlet side covers has a depression, the influence of centrifugalfan performance make a big difference. The flat position is closer to exit of impeller, theefficiency decreased more. If the uneven location is close to inlet of impeller, the fan flow rateand exit pressure has certain promotion, but the efficiency will be decrease. When theimpeller inlet side covers has an embossment, if the position and uneven situation have the same case, the influence extent of performance is far smaller than the depression condition.
