Research On Street Building Facade Regeneration Design Methods In Chinese Cities

Recently, because of the shift of building function, the aesthetic appreciation change. Along with the policy guide of government, people have new requires of the existing facades. The upgrade of building facades became one of the most frequent activities because it could dramaturgy change the streetscape more rapidly and economical. Under the big background of urban upgrade, many cities in our country had step into the redevelopment period, the projects of resembling the building facades became more and more frequent in China. However, there still many mistakes and misunderstanding appeared in the practice, like equalization between the renewal of building and the decoration of building; neglect of the fact that facades are the most important interface relate to the streets; ignorance of the relation between the building facades and cities, streets and other building; also the ambiguity of its inner rule and action. Basing on the current situation in Chinese renewal practices, this paper summed up the problems in renewal and design practices of the building facades. And this paper took the street building renewal project in Tianyuan District in Zhuzhou city of Hunan province as an example and made the building facade in urban streets as the research object. Trying to draw lessons from the other constructions on building facades all over the world, this paper focus on the research of how to design the satisfied streetscape comprehensive effect. Its result will produce huge optimistic and realistic meaning for the current city development and the construct activities in our country.Firstly,this paper list the motives, relative thoeries, the existing situation around the world of the renewal of building facades, the necessity and meaning of this research task, the main concept relate to the research object and the scope definition. In the chapter two and chapter three, the author introduced the fundamental rules and goal of the renewal design of street building facades as well as the element of renewal design. The chapter four illustrated the new methods of the contemporary street building facades on four aspects from urban design to individual building facades, interms of the ideas and the methods of renewal design; the procedure of renewal design; the typology of renewal design and the technology. On the analysis of thoeries, combined with the author’s practice in engineering project, the author elaborated on how these methods were applied into practices. Finally, the paper summarized the directive significance of the contemporary renewal design of the street building facades and provided the development trends of the renewal design in the future.
