The ordinary induction motors are widely used in many industrial fields due toits simple design and low cost. However, motor features of low starting torque andhigh starting current limit the requirements of big inertia occasion. Solid rotorinduction motors have excellent starting performance, but have some deficiencies inoperating performance. Considering the advantages of two kinds of motor, a kind ofinduction motor with compound cage rotor (IMCCR) is proposed. The IMCCR hasthe same stator slot shape as that of the traditional induction motor. The alloy that canconduct magnetism and electricity and the cast-aluminum are applied to the rotorbars. This improves motor starting performance and makes it has a good runningperformance.First of all, in this paper, the mathematical model for two-dimensionalelectromagnetic field analysis is established based on the electromagnetic fieldtheories and the variation method. The electromagnetic parameters of IMCCR in thestarting progress and rated operating are researched, by using the electromagneticfield method coupled with external circuit. According to the problems of copper-ironenrichment that appeared in the alloy smelting process, two kinds of alloy bars locateon upper slots with different non-uniformly doped materials are determined. Toanalyze the influence of non-uniformly doped materials on motor performance, thestarting current, the starting torque, and the major operating parameters areparticularly analyzed. Furthermore, influences of copper-iron materials doping levelchanges on IMCCR performances are also studied, which by adjusting the size of thecopper-iron area on the upper cage rotor. The obtained conclusions could providereferences for the comprehensive studies on the material defects of electric machines.Secondly, this paper selects four carbon fiber materials with different magnituderesistivity as IMCCR’s composite cage, by comparing the starting and operatingperformance of the motor with these materials, it turns out that XN-05can improves the motor performance effectively. With the running electromagnetic field calculationas the foundation, each motor thermal parameter was determined, and fulltemperature field was established, furthermore the influence of these materials on theIMCCR was analyzed.Finally, in condition of the slot saturation on the motor starting performance, thenonlinear time harmonic field of the induction motor with compound cage wasdetermined. and study the impact of non-uniform doping materials on the rotor slotleakage reactance. The result shows that the bilateral rotor slot leakage reactance issmaller than unilateral rotor’s, and the difference of each slot leakage reactanceparameters is small; Due to the weak magnetic of copper materials, the inductmagnetic is small, and the leakage reactance of model2is only around0.45mH.
