The tribology endeavor to study the principles of friction, wear and lubrication between two contact surfaces mainly with the help of the friction and wear test in order to and guide the design, production and optimization of friction pairs. The accuracy of test results mainly depend on the motion form, the design structure and the accuracy of parts in testing machine which are applied for friction and wear test. At present, more than95%of the friction and wear testing machines are taking rotary friction pairs as the study object in the market. The friction and wear testing machines, which are taking reciprocating friction pairs as the study object, are confined only to the study of high frequency, microstroke and low load, and the design and application of the reciprocating friction and wear testing machine which applies to high frequency, microstroke and low load are rarely studied. Therefore, a new kind of friction and wear test machine will be designed in this paper in order to solve the study necessary of friction and wear mechanisation and principles between reciprocating friction pair. The main research contents of this paper are the following:1. The major systems of reciprocating friction and wear testing machine are designed, the test load of2000N, the maximum reciprocating stroke of100mm and the maximum reciprocating frequency of5Hz can be achieved.2. The reciprocating system which has a great influence on the testing process is analyzed, the inertia force of this system is balanced by adding counterweight and the dynamic characteristics are improved; the optimization effect of dynamic characteristics are verified by using the multi-body dynamics analysis software ADAMS.3. The dynamic characteristics of loading system in loading process is simulated and analyzed in ADAMS, the simulation results shows that the load adjustment step of the loading system adjusted by stepping motor is less than1N and the test load can be loaded and adjusted accurately by loading system.4. The support frame of test platform is analyzed and optimized by using the finite element analysis software ANSYS Workbench, the entirety stress of the support frame is improved and the deformation in the vertical direction is decreased, the plane contact state of the friction pair during the test process is ensured.5. The measurement process and results of the friction wear testing machine are analyzed and predicted; the measurement process is simulated and the measurement results are verified with the aid of testing machine virtual prototype built in ADAMS.6. The Influence of the test platform mechanical structure for friction measurement results is studied; the corresponding correction function and method is proposed to a reliable basis for signal calibration and measurement results correction testing personnel and Software engineers.
