With the continuous development of society, car ownership increases, people have muchhigher requirement on automobile comforting and handling performance. Vehicle suspensionsystem performance is an important fact of affecting vehicle running smoothness, handlingstability and speed. The reliability of automobile suspension system directly affects car safety,most car accidents are caused by mechanical failure because of suspension system. This paperstudies the reliability of key components in automobile suspension system, and it has greatsignificance to improve automobile suspension system.In this paper, on the basis of the study on basic reliability theory, combined with thestructural classification and working principle of the automobile suspension system, this papercollects the data of McPherson suspension system in failure modes, it determines the failurerates of suspension system in failure mode and the reliability of the suspension parts. Thispaper studies McPherson suspension system by failure mode effects analysis FMEA and faulttree analysis FTA, through the establishment of fault tree in various failure modes, it obtainsthe probability importance of basic components. On the basis of risk analysis, there are threecriteria to determine risk coefficient: severity, detection, occurrence. It calculates and sorts thekey to identify key parts. By GO method this paper analyses suspension system reliability,according to the principle of McPherson suspension system motion analysis system, itestablishes GO figure, then it conducts qualitative and quantitative analysis, finally it containssuspension system reliability. This paper uses MATLAB software programming, it getssuspension system failure rate curve of each failure mode, and analyses key parts in failuremode, then it puts forward repair or improved design scheme.This failure mode of the automobile suspension system for data processing, it usesreliability analysis method, it calculates the reliability of suspension system and key partsunder different milestones by reliability chart. The reliability curve decreases rapidly in thetime dependent, when it runs only30000km, the suspension system reliability is0.55.Calculation result of the suspension system reliability by GO method and FTA qualitative andquantitative analysis is approximation, it proves the correctness of the data processing and thereliability analysis results. By determining the key parts of the automobile suspension systemreliability analysis method, it has targeted and obtains accurate results by applying toMcPherson suspension system.
