This paper mainly studies on the design and preparation of3.31μm narrow band-pass filters which are using in methane detecting.Some parameters of the film system have influence on the narrow band-pass filter’s performance. In order to reveal the relations between them, a study of factors influencing half bandwidth, rectangularity and steepness in narrow band-pass filter’s design has been done. Some simulation results and conclusions have been obtained from it. Based on this, the design and further optimization of the film system have been done in Essential Macleod by using the optical theory of thin film.According to the performance of OPTORUN OTFC-1300, the workable substrate material, film material, and the processing parameters have been selected. The narrow band-pass filters which are in accordance with the design specifications have been manufactured. And the results of optical performance test and mechanical performance test show that these narrow band-pass filters can be used in practical application.The questions and experiences which are acquired from film design and coating preparation are discussed and summarized in this paper.
