Space-time distribution of water resource in China, as well as the impact of climatechange and human activities in recent years, result in the fewer water resource of per capita inparts of our country. Nowadays, the rapid development of urbanization, domestic water andindustrial water demand is also increasing, the long-distance large-scale water conveyanceproject of inter-basin is becoming more and more necessary. Water hammer, which muchattention has been paid to for a long time, is an important factor affecting the safety of watersupply system, and the water hammer analysis technology is gradually perfect. The design ofthe water conveyance project of long distance pressure is used to be made according torelevant design specification and designer’s engineering experience, and the conventionalmethod either waste caused by the excessive planning and design, or result in engineeringaccident lacking of design, which does damage to equipment and piping. While computer canbe applied to simulate the flow state in pipeline system now, which can simulate the situationin project, then the analysis of the water hammer protection can be considered at the designstage, so that appropriate optimization design can be determined.This article detailedly introduces the basic theory of water hammer, calculation methodand the boundary condition equation of pump, referring to the latest research andtechnology,innovation and its relevant experience of the water hammer theory at home andabroad, which is now widely applied and quite mature, which is on the basis of thecharacteristic method,using the MATLAB software to simulate operating condition of thewater hammer pump in the actual project, and finally based on the MATLAB visualizationresearch, using c#language to write the stop pump water hammer calculation software.In long distance water conveyance project, we can use computer to simulate thehydraulic transient process of water conveyance system under different working conditions.Then a large number of relatively accurate data can be obtained in a short time in order to acomprehensive theoretical analysis and prediction. On this basis, we can analyze theabnormal water hammer pressure in various situation. According to the calculated data and graphs, we can know whether the water system design is reasonable, whether it will be andwhat kind of water hammer phenomenon will be. So that we can select and get the mostreasonable comprehensive protection measures, to ensure that the whole water system can besafe and reliable to operate.Compared with conventional analysis method,the dynamic simulation analysis is moreintuitive and convenient, clear, and has an important value and significance for optimizationdesign and safe operation of the delivery of road system, in order to meet the demand ofwater supply.
