Busbar is the electrical components which concentrate and distribute electricity in thepower system, it plays a very important role in the transmission and distribution, the busbarprotection performance of substations and power system is very important for the safe andreliable operation. This paper uses digital simulation technique to build busbar fault modeland relay protection model, which simulates the busbar relay protection device process todevelop "buabar relay protection behavior simulation analysis system" software. It provides auseful tool for the busbar fault analysis and protection performance test.TA (Current transformer) saturation problem with fault is the main factor affecting theaccuracy of bus protection action. This Paper introduces the mechanism of TA saturation andanalyzes the factors which affect the TA saturation, uses SIMULINK to build the TAsaturation model to research the electrical current change characteristics of the TA saturationand the change of the magnetic flux in the iron core. This paper puts forward a new criterionbased on symmetric window assessment of TA saturation recognition by using thecharacteristics of TA saturation current waveform distortion, and gives the correspondingrealization method of TA saturation recognition. Simulation results verify the feasibility andeffectiveness of the proposed criterion and method.By using MATLAB/SIMULINK, many kinds of connection modes of busbar outside andinside its area are constructed, so the various types of busbar faults are simulated. Based onthe study of busbar protection theory and microcomputer protection algorithm, this paperbuilds the busbar relay protection based on different principle of bus protection model, andrealizes all-digital simulation of a variety of bus bar main protection and back-up protectionbehavior.This paper designs "buabar relay protection behavior simulation analysis system"man-machine interface by using the MATLAB GUI components. By writing M file thesimulation model is connected to the GUI interface. The user can control the simulationanalysis process and observe analyzing results by modifying system parameters of the modelin the man-machine interface, such as fault type, fault time, protection setting value.
