The Research On Protection Interface System For Aging Population In Rail Traffic

After the end of the world war II, The world enters the economical recovery stage.With the rapid industrialization and urbanization plus people’s changed attitude towardsgiving birth, the world’s demographic structure has changed a lot and aged population hasincreasingly become a bigger part of the total population, as a result of the transition froma society with high birth rate combined with high death rate to a society with low birthrate and low death rate.With China stepping into an aging society in1999due to a reduction in birth rate aswell as expanded average life expectancy, Chinese society is increasingly facingproblems including increased burden on young people, decreased labor force, lack ofsocial vitality, increased government spend etc.. all of this calls for government policychanges on systems of health care, pension and public service.On the other hand, with economy growth and improvement of medical technology, theaged is physically experiencing slowed pace of functional degration. and many of themstill want and are physically capable to continue the participation in the social andeconomic activities, contributing to the society.When aging population continues their social activities, due to the inevitabledegradation of their physical function and resulting changes psychologically.. they havetheir specific needs towards public infrastructure, service and security systems, Publictransportation system, as one important part of public infrastructure, has to makenecessary changes in hardware and software to cope with the changed demographicstructure. Rail traffic, with its inherent advantages of big capacity, less dependent on outsideconditions, has been increasingly playing an important role in city public transportationsystem. This article is taking a specific look at the rail traffic system in Chongqing,through reading of relevant articles, on-site investigation, research and measurement,learning from foreign experiences and advanced approaches, the study is specificallyfocused on interface protection system of rail traffic targeting aged population, with theaim of promoting more safety, comfort, agility and effectiveness during aged population’sparticipation in social activities.
