The dissertation is based on a basic concept that "rail transit system results actually from rail transit ’embedding’ into urban space and rail transit has impact on the shape of urban space and on re-building historical-relationship of spatial benefits."Interface" is taken as an inspection focus and an essential analysis tool for planning object exploring. It is trying to construct a "Methodology of planning for Integrating Rail Transit and Urban Space" carried by Actor-network Theory. Main works and the results are as follows:Through analysis of domestic and foreign planning practices and papers on rail transit and urban spatial integration, the meaning of the integration planning, the actor objects and processes are defined, and a more complete rail transit and urban space integrated planning framework is raised up. It points out the following:(1) Integrated planning object is "rail-space" system formed by "proposed" rail transport "embedding" into the "real" urban space, which is of "multi-level","non-fully integration" and "quasi-object"(2) Existence of "rail-space" system in the early planning stage is shown as a "constructing", therefore, the formation process and formation mechanism should be observed from the inter-constructing view of structure constraints and agency.(3)"Rail-space" system formation and development is a process that rail transit "embedding" into urban space and rail transit has impact on the shape of urban space and on re-building historical-relationship of spatial benefits, which results in "conflicts" in variety of different levels and different nature. Therefore, the core task of integrated planning is "cognizing conflict" and "resolving conflict.’In accordance with the principle of Knowledge Universe System "Philosophical beliefs-Theory-Methodology-Method-Application", integrated planning methodology principle and essential analysis tool are proposed through normative analysis and theoretical interpretation. By questionnaires and statistical tests, basic types of "conflict" caused by rail transit embedding into urban space are analyzed. It points out the following:(1)Integrated planning methodological framework should be constructed by using "process philosophy" as a philosophical belief,"structure-agency" theory as a theoretical basis, as well as in accordance with the principle of "bounded rationality, the bottom line first and multi-metaphor analysis".(2) The "conflict" caused by rail transit embedding into urban space rail transit, can be divided into "target","conduct","benefit" and "tools" and other types."Interface" is used as a essential analysis tool to convert the complicated issues caused by rail transit and urban space integrated planning into the conflict between the interface and interface constructed elements so that the research can focus in the coupling process and outcome at the interface.By expanding and upgrading of core concepts of actor-network theory, and improving the deficiency while application in planning area, integrated planning is converted into a "heterogeneous-actors network" so that core contents of integrated planning methodology is converted to the following:(1)"Constructing actors’ network"--Build up a "path" to solve the problem of the interface. The key point is to construct action logic for "promotion of collaborative goal, collaborative action and collaborative interests".(2)"How to pass through the Obligatory Points of Passage"--Build up a "rule" to solve the problem of the interface. The key point is to seek for an "action boundaries" to "calm down" the "interface controversy".(3)"Improve actors’ actions structure"—what kind of "tools" shall be used to improve the effect of solving interface issues. The key point is to improve integrated planning toolbox, in order to construct a "path-rules-tool" integrating frameworks to gather together with all elements involved in equally no matter what are technical&social, macroµ elements.As "rail-space" system being a multi-level system, it is proposed and demonstrated "interface laws" of "rail-space" system in three levels, including "point-line balance","1h law" and "space development strategy". In order to effectively use of transportation capacity of rail transit system and maintain appropriate service level, it points out the following:(1) Focus on co-ordinate deployment of land-use nature and development intensity along rail transit line in the corridor level, and it is not recommended to seek for living and employment equilibrium at each station area.(2) According to the function hierarchy of rail line network defined by "1h law" to select the length of each level rail lines, the corresponding speed grade and exchange mode. It shall prudently deal with an extension of the large capacity lines in the central area. (3) From the view of interaction, integration and collaborative development between rail transit and urban space, under the resource constraints, it is proposed to focus on reshaping spatial structure, integrating transport facilities resources, improving spatial policies&land use policies and transportation policies etc. to examine and select the rail line network size and the layout at different development stages.By assessment on the planning practice status, rail transit and urban space integrated planning tools applied in Hong Kong, and application conditions&application effect are analyzed. By combined with the planning practice in China Mainland, a series of planning tools for rail transit and urban space integrated planning is promoted.By use of "Path-Rules-Tools" framework stated in the dissertation, the experiences and lessons of China mainland introducing Hong Kong MTR "Rail+Property" mode, is analyzed. It points out that this mode is an Actor-network, including the institutional, technical and cultural heterogeneity elements, which is "embedded" in a particular social network, natural environment and institutional networks. Therefore, it cannot be taken simply as "advanced international experience" for learning. It should pay more attention to the mode creation ideas and its experiences. According to the actual situation in the Mainland, the countermeasure is raised to make the mode suitable for the Mainland.
