With the rapid development of world automobile industry, the research of smart car gradually become a new direction in the field of vehicle engineering today. The research of smart combine the content of several subjects such as automatic control, artificial intelligence, information fusion, sensor, image processing and computer science, the research on intelligent vehicle control system is currently one of the most active research field.This paper introduces the hardware circuit design of smart car. The system’s working process is:firstly, the microprocessor analyse and dispose the image sensor’s collect traffic information, rapid distinguish the smart car’s driving route, the steering gear execute the corresponding turning requirements according to different acquisition signal, when the smart car starts, speed detection module detect the smart car’s speed continuously, and feedback the speed information to microprocessor, through PI control algorithm to realize the smart car’s speed closed loop control.Image acquisition and processing module is the precondition of smart car driving along the black track stability, due to the poor robustness of two-value method, the system cannot effectively extract the black line when there is external light interference to. Although edge detection algorithm is suitable for the weak light change occasion, but when there is a strong sense of light change, however, the direct edge detection can’t effectively extract the black lead wire in the path information. Therefore, this design adopt improved edge detection algorithm for collect image processing.The fast stability of Smart car is mainly reflected on the car’s quickly and accurately control. because of the parameters of traditional PI control are fixed, so it is difficult to meet the requirement of the model driving along the path intelligence; while adaptive fuzzy PI control have the advantages of high control precision, flexible control and strong adaptability, which can control the speed of the car accuracy and stability. So, adaptive fuzzy PI control is used in this paper to control the speed of the smart car.
