In recent years, the rapid development of the national electric power systemindustry makes all kinds of voltage level converter station building more. Harmthe general idle capacity and harmonic interference caused by the increasinglyserious; on the other hand, a lot of power system device consumes no power. willreduce the power factor of the power grid which has bad effect. There is no po w-er compensation and harmonic control is an urgent task. The traditional wattlesspower compensation method using basic stand inside their own compensation,the compensation effect is limited to the station, did not consider the overallplanning of the electric power system, has its limitations and has its own draw-backs. Therefore, it is of great significance to research station wattless powercompensation.In order to optimize the design can better converter wattless power compen-sation scheme, based on the specific examples of Ningdong and Qingdao, fromthe AC system without power demand. Combined with the present and the futurefive years, reasonable feeding receiving-end AC system can provide the ability ofwattless power, and in the full research and analogy to other has run converterwattless compensation scheme, through theoretical calculation and analysis, cal-culation formula of wattless power using converter, combining the basic prin-ciples of wattless power compensation, to break the traditional compensationway station self-complementary and propose a general scheme of HVDC capaci-tive compensation and inductive compensation configuration. Finally, throughthe use of RTDS simulation system, established the simulation model of conver-ter station. Through simulation, test under different operating mode filter cancorrect switching, while testing the reactive power compensation scheme can meet the requirements of wattless power compensation and voltage control of therelevant standards and regulations without the proposed, and verified the feasibil-ity of the new scheme. This paper not only optimizes the shortage of traditionalscheme, improve the efficiency of transport power grid, reducing waste, and es-tablishes the simulation model for±660kV voltage grade, the design of the theo-retical calculation and scheme to realize, not only changed the traditional conver-ter station within their own wattless compensation manner, but also provides ex-perience for the HVDC project under construction, to be built in the future.
