Aristotle, a philosopher of the ancient Greek, once said,“People come to the cityto make a living, people living in the city are for a better life”. Driven by China’srapid development of economic, the material greatly enriched and the level ofurbanization is rapidly promoted. However, with the continuous expansion of citiesand the rapid growth of motorized transport, urban residents are deeply troubled by aseries of urban problems, such as comprehensive urban congestion, increasing energyconsumption of resources, serious environmental pollution and so on.In the context of the new situation of the global green development, greentransportation and low-carbon travel have become the main focus of the research.Green road, trail, ecological trails and other green transportation mode have set off aworldwide boom. Pedestrian and cyclist transportation (PCT), which is aspeople-oriented, harmonious and low-carbon green way to travel, also as a kind oftraditional urban transportation system, become the focus of the study once again.Chang-Zhu-Tan city group is approved as the “national resource-saving andenvironment-friendly society building comprehensive reform pilot area” in December2007by National Development and Reform Commission. Traffic as the basic industryof the two types of demonstration area, but also the energy consumption area of theindustry is facing many challenges. Thus land-use planning of PCT in the hilly citybased on the green cities idea is a subject worth exploring.First, this thesis summarizes background of the research, elaborates the relatedconcepts and basic characteristics of PCT and the green city, and reviews the courseof study and its relevant practical experience at home and abroad. It relates thepresent status of PCT, demonstrates the necessity of development of PCT based on thegreen city and points out that the key points of the development of PCT is theland-use planning. Then this thesis explains the concept of land-use planning, theconcept and significance of land-use planning of PCT, the path of the elementscontained and implementation.Then the thesis discusses index system of land-use planning of PCT, in which thebasic principles of the index system, the PCT land per capita indicators and the peruint of land PCT land density indicators are explained in detail. The five keyindicators are also elaborated here, and a certain reference value of index is given. At the same time, it takes Yuelu District for example, the adaptability of theregion PCT on is analysed from the development of its background conditions, naturalterrain conditions, residents, rail transit construction and policy orientation. Bytypical regional surveys and statistical data, the thesis points out the existingproblems of PCT at present. Finally, this thesis selects the important area of YueluDistrict to carry out the green design of land-use planning of the city PCT.
