The strategy for building strong and smart grid has been constituted in the12th Five-Year Plan by State Grid Corporation. As the infrastructure, home access to Power Fiber is critical to promote and develop smart grid. In this thesis, firstly the advantages of EPON is highlighted by comparing with other access technology. The principles of EPON are investigated through the perspectives of system structure, hierarchical model, data transmission and Qos processing, and broadband control, and the application mode of EPON in FTTX is summarized. Then, specific cable used in PFTTH project, Optical fiber composite low-voltage cable, is studied from the perspectives of composition materials, selection and performance, and the types of OPLC application is summarized. This article focuses on the study and exploration of networking technology of the EPON system, Optical fiber composite low-voltage cable and its transfer technology. Finally based on theoretical analysis and with a real case of power community of State Grid Corporation as a example, the application of EPON in PFTTH is studied and analyzed, in which three network convergence of cable TV networks, telecommunication networks and Internet networks is implemented. It provides an important reference for implementation of PFTTH in the future, and also builds the foundation for subsequent value-added services and the construction of intelligent community.
