Rotary transformer is a kind of device with speed, angle, precise positiondetection, and it is widely used in the field of industrial aut omation. Although thereare some disadvantages in precision compared with photoelectric encoder, rotarytransformer can work under harsh environments such as heat, extreme cold, wet thatphotoelectric encoder can’t adapt to. In addition, while magnetic enc oder can alsowork under poor conditions, but compared with rotary transformer, it has somedisadvantages in precision,size and cost. Therefore, rotary transformer has become animportant part in motor position sensor market for its unique advantages.First of all, the article starts from the principle of rotating transformer. Thesimilarities and differences between common transformer and rotary transformer isanalyzed in detail, and the output law of rotary transformer is extracted fromelectromagnetic induction law of common transformer’s primary and secondarywinding. Then, the advantages and disadvantages of rotary transformer with brushtype structure, coupling transformer with brushless type structure and magnetoresistive structure is contrastively analyzed, which finds reluctance type structure hassome advantages that others do not possess. However, reluctance type structure ofrotary transformer is divided into classic and new type, and the new type has betterwork than traditional type, so finally we chose new type reluctance rotary transformerin this article as research and design of object.In the design process of new type reluctance rotary transformer, first reference tothe key performance indicators is referred, and in accordance to its desi gn goals andrequirements, the technical parameters of the research object in this article are listed.The technical parameters together with the related mathematical models listed providethe working aims and theory supports for the overall design and cir cuit design of newtype reluctance rotary transformer.The design process of new type of reluctance rotary transformer includeswinding and rotor design, and to improve the accuracy of system, the parameters ofstructure is made on the basis of the design. The design of decoding circuit includeshardware design and software design. The hardware part includes the design of signalgenerator, rotary variable signal processing circuit, as well as design of interface circuit for rotary transformer based on dspic30f3013; while the software part includesA/D sampling program design, and decoding algorithm design.At the end of all design work, the new type reluctance rotary transformer isassembled, and the program is downloaded. Finally, taking a high precisionphotoelectric transformer as a reference to test three samples and obtaining a moresatisfactory test result. At the end of the full text, the summary and prospect of thenew type reluctance rotary transformer is got at the same time.
