In recent years issues on building fire are more and more increasingly prominent, so the escape navigation technology adapted to indoor fire environment has become an important topic. The main research of this study is the path planning in navigation system. It shows that Dijkstra algorithm is suitable for the case of multi-sink-node and A*algorithm is suitable for the case of single-sink-node.In this study, the Voronoi-grid method is introduced to the indoor route modeling for navigation applications. The research is from the shallower to the deeper, for which the first is the path planning for one single story at a two-dimensional level and the next is the three-dimensional path planning for a normal space. In view of various unfavorable factors in the fire such as smoke smudge and poison gas, available safety egress time must be taken into account, that raises another dimension:time, or the time planning. In this paper the four-dimensional path planning for building fire navigation is proposed creatively. The results of the four-dimensional path planning show that the path meeting the time requirement is not necessarily the shortest path. Therefore, the selection of the fire escape routes is not fixed. In the end, the related issues on the hardware realization of the path planning method are discussed.
