China’s current large-scale railway construction projects, urban transport, water conservancy and undersea tunnel has greatly increased the demand for TBM,however, the core technology of TBM is controlled by foreign principal, resulting in the high price of the TBM, so the demands of designing and manufacturing TBM by ourselves has been more and more intense.The introduction of foreign advanced TBM for tunnel construction began in the1990s. In recent years, TBM manufacturing process is done by some of the country’s manufacturing units, so in this process,our country has accumulated some manufacturing technology and construction experience. These base and experience has become an important condition for the designing of ourTBM. As part of the National Basic Research Program of China, we have done a lot of research work, as well as exchanging and cooperation with manufacturing companies and TBM construction companies. We got the first-hand information of the problems often encountered in the construction using TBM.The main task of this project is to design a TBM cutter-head drive system with better driving capability and good geological adaptability, thus overcoming the problems of TBM driving system in poor geological conditions.The article can be divided into following six sections:The first chapter provides an overview of the TBM and analyze the current state of development at home and abroad, then focuses on the structure of TBM cutter-head drive system and the problems currently encountered in the construction, the last topic describes the research purpose, research items and research significance.The second chapter analyzes the structure and principle and driving characteristics TBM cutter-head drive system at home and abroad, on the basis of domestic and foreign TBM cutter and fully digest and absorb the essence of the disk drive system, according to construction problems and needs of the project is currently experiencing, creatively put forward the new TBM cutter-head drive system s. And compare the performance of the new system and conventional drive system by theoretical calculations solutions.The third chapter analyzes the main features of the new TBM cutter-head drive program, completed the program to achieve the overall research program, and established the main focus of this research-Hydro-viscous speed clutch, and fluid viscosity governor characteristics and mechanism of HVD are outlined.Chapter IV completed the overall design of the TBM cutter-head drive test rig, including hydraulic system (controlling hydraulic systems, cooling system, hydraulic system of simulation load), mechanical system, and control system. And major product of the test rig is chose by calculation and design.The fifth chapter firstly complete the stress analysis of the control piston and friction plates, and establish a mathematical model of the control piston.Then a model of HVD was then established by AMEsim software. After that, we established the model of hydraulic control system, cooling system and load simulation system based on elements modeling. The mechanism of viscous liquid of HVD and performance of the new driving system was then study by the simulation model.Chapter VI summarizes the work carried out and the next prospect.
