The looming energy crisis and deteriorating environment force people towhole-heartedly develop the renewable vehicle, which is more clean compared withthe conventional fuel burned vehicle.Developing the renewable vehicle is one of ourgovernment’s main tasks.The mileage restricted shortcoming of the pure electricvehicle is relatively not highlight in the case of short distance journey or for urbantraffic.In order to replace the traditional fuel burned vehicle, the mileage of the pureelectric vehicle should be increased with large amplitude.In the short term,it is hardto achieve a breakthrough in the energy storage technology, therefore hybrid electriccar is more practical sense solution.In this paper, a novel high power density converter topology based on cascadedH bridge and matrix converter is proposed in order to improve the performance ofthe conventional energy management systems with low power density and reliability.Energy storage unit and on board internal combustion engine generator systemprovide the power demanded by the electrical motor.They are connected to theprimary windings of the medium frequency multi-winding transformer by thecascaded H bridge and matrix converter respectively. As an important part of theenergy storage control unit, the cascaded H bridge needs to balance the voltages ofthe battery packs.Using the proposed topology, the HEV system done’t have a largenumber of batteries in series and capacitors which enhance the power density andthe reliability.The results of the simulation cases created in the Matlab/Simulink aswell as the results of the experiment cases the validate the correction of theproposed converter topology and the relative modulation strategies.
