As an important part in occupant restraint system, car seat bears complex loadduring driving process, and it can also use its own crew deformation to absorb impact energyto reduce occupant injury with other restraint parts in a traffic accident. Therefore, car seatbecomes an important component safety in vehicle safety study. This article mainlyanalyses the the static strength, anti-whiplash and studies occupant protection in vehiclefrontal and side impact.Firstly, the FE model of the seat is constructed in Hypermesh, the static strength isstudied by implicit function in Ls-dyna referred to GB15083-2006. The crash model betweenhead and headrest is constructed referred to GB11550-1995, the analysis of the seatheadrest energy absorption is conducted by explicit function in Ls-dyna.Secondly, the anti-whiplash model is buided referred to C-NCAP technical requirementsin whiplash, the impact of design parameters such as headrest position, backrest stiffness andrecliner performance on anti-whiplash performance is studied, the result is disposed by Isightand Excel, and change of injury parameters is studied by constructing response surface ordiagram. The design parameters are optimized by steps that optimal Latin square sampling, construct approximate model, genetic algorithm optimization, and the effectiveness ofoptimization is verified in madymo. Finally, the restraint system in side impact is constructed by using PSM substructure, theprotective effect of the seat in side impact is investigated by comparing three differentstiffness of backrest. The simple frontal restraint system is constructed to analyze the impactof seat inclination on occupant injury. This article analyzes the safety of the seat from many aspects and has a certainreference value and valuable significance on the study of seat safety, the conclusion is drawnas below:(1) the static strength meets the demand of GB15083-2006and no parts becomeinvalid; the headrest has good energy absorption, the time of accerleration on the head whichexceeds80g does not exceed3ms.(2) The performance in anti-whiplash is bad, designparameters are optimized, the performance in anti-whiplash is greatly improved and the seatcan get full marks in C-NCAP test.(3) Increasing stiffness of backrest approximately candecrease rib deformation and pelvis force in side impact; increasing seat inclination canreduce acceleration on head and thorax, so the injury in frontal side is reduced.
