Vehicle side impact accidents,as the type of traffic accidents with the highest incidence, have been receiving widespread attention for the problem of injury to occupants in the vehicle. The regulations concerning testing in the side impact regulations for automobiles have an important role to play in maximizing the safety of the occupants in the vehicle. However, there are some differences between regulations and actual side impact accidents, and the impact of the difference on vehicle occupant injury is worth exploring. In order to study more deeply the factors that affect the occupant injury in the side impact, this paper compares the main content of the Sino-US side impact regulations.Next,110 accidents were analyzed in the NAIS database. Then, the injury severity of front passengers in the vehicle, the speed of the collision vehicle, the speed of the crashed vehicle, and the location of the crashed vehicle were analyzed.A total of 13 related variables were statistically analyzed, and a logistic regression analysis was performed on the severity of injury to the front row occupants of the vehicle during a collision. The significant factors affecting the front row occupant injury in the crashed vehicle were identified.Meanwhile,The analysis results were evaluated by R indicators and Cox & Snell-R indicators. Finally,a multi-condition vehicle side impact finite element simulation model is established.By changing the conditions of the impacted vehicle speed and collision position, the injury severity of the front row occupants under different working conditions is studied.Based on the results of the accident characteristics analysis and the results of the simulation analysis, proposals for avoiding risks are made for the transport participants. At the same time, the rationality of the relevant provisions of the side impact safety regulations is analyzed. The results of the study indicate that as the speed of the crashed vehicle is increased, the HIC value of the head injury will also increase. The TTI value of the chest injury will increase as the speed of the crashed vehicle is increased. However, due to the smaller displacement of the dummy's abdomen and pelvis compared to other parts, the difference in force is not significant. In the collision of different parts of the crashed vehicle, the damage to the head, chest and pelvis of the dummy in the front of the vehicle is more serious than that of other crashed parts.Based on the analysis of the characteristics of side impact accidents, the Logistic regression analysis of the frontal occupant injury in the side impact car and the finite element simulation analysis of the car side impact, the paper concludes that the factors such as the speed of the crashed vehicle and the location of the collision in the side collision accident are the front passengers in the vehicle. The effect of damage.A proposal to reduce the possibility of damage to the front passengers in the vehicle and suggestions for improvement of the side impact safety regulations have been formed: The occupants shall try to select the left side seat of the vehicle while riding in the vehicle,so as to reduce the probability of injury in the side collision accident; When carrying out a car side collision safety test, give the test vehicle a certain speed;at the same time, the frontal collision test of the vehicle should be increased. The research of this topic aims to provide a theoretical reference for the revision of Chinese automobile side impact safety regulations.
