It is known to all that aging phenomenon has happened in many of our country’sarchitectures after being used for years. In order to ensure the normal use of architectures andsave more human, financial and material input, the reinforcement technology of architecturestructure is receiving increasing attention in the industry. This paper details the development andpresent state, calculation method of its structural strengthening as well as the constructionalmethod of two most commonly used reinforcement methods, which are, CFRP reinforcementmethod and steel plate reinforcement method. In order to analyze the two reinforcement methodsin a more truthful and specific manner, a real reinforcement plan is utilized to perform a finiteelement analysis for one secondary beam of a project, which compares the improvement of eachperformance of reinforced concrete by the two methods.In this paper, the research content andinnovation points:Research and innovation of this paper:(1) Made comparison on the research and development status, reinforcement principles,merits and drawbacks as well as applicable scope of these two structures in reinforcement;(2) Made comparison on the calculation method of flexural strengthening and shearstrengthening of reinforced concrete when these two reinforcement methods are selected;(3) Made comparison on the construction technology and inspection standard of the tworeinforcement methods;(4) Performed flexural reinforcement on one beam of an actual project using the twomethods respectively and carry out finite element analysis for the improvement of bearingcapacity of such reinforced concrete beam before and after reinforcement; carry out comparativeanalysis for the stress-strain of steel bar and concrete in the beam, displacement of beam and thestress state of reinforcement material when the two reinforcement methods were adopted, so asto verify the safety and reliability of beam when reinforced by the two methods.
