Research On Urban Planning And Design Of Waterfront Landscape

Waterfront plays an important role in the city, which is a major force to improve the urban vitality and modernization. How to plan and design the urban waterfront landscape, taking its best use of ecology, economics and society, realizing long-term harmonious development between the city and the people, all these will be the focus which should be considered by urban waterfront designers.At present, the urbanization has entered the peak period in China, most of them have no time to do science’s planning and argument, on the other hand, the theoretical research does not go into mature stage yet, it can’t be used to guide China’s urban waterfront development planning and designing, In practice, the designers just copy foreign design concept, design style, it’s difficult to have their own characteristics, and more difficult to reflect the local regional customs and cultural landscape. or fail to reflect the value of waterfront landscape either. This paper is based on the above reasons, discussing the theory of the urban waterfront landscape planning and designing, studying and learning from the domestic and foreign classic cases, and then using Yunzhong river of xinzhou city for example. The main content includes the following aspects:(1) Studying the theories of the urban waterfront landscape planning and designing. Firstly, studies the general characteristics and the classification of the urban waterfront landscape; Secondly, researches the orientation, principle, design idea of the urban waterfront landscape planning and designing. At the same time, discussing the reason and concept of some failure unreasonable phenomenon, in order to alert the waterfront landscape planning and design of Xinzhou City.(2) Studying and learning from the domestic and foreign classic cases. Analyzes the planning background, planning objectives, design principles of four classic cases, sums up the rules and experience to guide and apply to our practice.(3) Taking Yunzhong River of Xinzhou city for example. Combining with the investigation, analyzes the states and characteristics. concepts and the reasonable configuration which is suitable for Yunzhong River’s waterfront landscape. Emphasizing that designer should pay much more attention to the relationship between the tradition and modernity of Urban Waterfront Landscape, and raising a new point that the theoretical study of urban waterfront landscape planning design, is no longer the "initial stage", just "not yet reaching maturity". And hope that can play a positive role to Yunzhong River and other urban waterfront landscape’s planning and designing.
