This paper is mainly focused on an automobile engine manufacturing enterprises foundry grit feeding and in the falling sand process of falling sand institution there are issues such as security, environment, dust, and the design of the material box, steel frame structure and process of control improvement. The falling sand institution is slung by crane currently. The cranes mainly rely on manual control. The cranes start and stop quickly. Due to the inertia of loads, the crane to withstand the collision is large. The coefficient of the safety of workers to operate is small. In order to solve these problems, to ameliorate the control system of the falling sand institution, using programmable control technology PLC.By writing PLC control program and software emulation to simulate the control of process flow. The quality of material box and steel grit is large, their inertia is also large. During crane lifting cargo process, there will be a significant swing that have a huge collision on equipment, which is not conducive to automation control. Based PLC control, this paper designed a mechanical anti-sway device to constrain the swing of the material box. It greatly reduces the wobble amplitude of the material box. So that the entire the falling sand process is stable, which provided the preconditions for PLC control. Through three-dimensional modeling and simulation to demonstrate the reasonableness of the device.By designing mechanical anti-sway device and improving PLC control technology, to realize the falling sand institution automation, to improve the efficiency of the institution and reduce labor intensity.
