The automotive body is not only an important part of the car, but also the first elementthat caused people’s consumption desire. The quality of automobile covering parts is animportant factor that influences body quality, which continuously makes the research ofsheet metal forming theory and forming technology deepen. Because of its mostly3Dsurface, high quality requirements, complex deformation in stamping, difficulty to hold thedeformation law, reasons affecting the quality perplexing, it is difficult to quantitativelygive the parameters of process design and die design. Therefore, designers will heavily relyon design experience to do jobs.In view of the emerging problems of wrinkling, cracking and forming deficiencyduring the stamping forming process of automotive covering parts, this paper takes theupper bracket of the automotive steering column as a example, uses the tool called explicitdynamic analysis software ETA/Dynaform5.7with LS-DYNA3D as core, and then studythe law influencing the traditional stamping and liquid filling deep drawing formingprocess of the automobile covering parts. According to the features of the steering columnof car parts and stamping process, design the drawing model and establish the mold modelof finite element simulation analysis. For the general drawing, the paper mainly studiesinfluence of the process parameter such as the blank holder force, friction conditions andthe influence effected by drawing and blank shape and size.By adjusting the processparameters, we can get optimized stamping process, meet the quality requirements, andverify reliability of the numerical simulation results by experimental verification. Due tothe extreme difficult to this forming parts, this paper first study the steel mold design andstamping process, then explore the parts of the aluminum metals’charging deep drawingprocess and discuss the influence of the liquid chamber pressure change on the formingperformance according to the development trend of automobile lightweight.Whether the addendum and binder surface design is reasonable or not is the key factor which decides the success of deep drawing and gaining qualified products, so the researchof automobile covering parts stamping forming simulation theory and CAE numericalsimulation technology is just the foundation. This paper focuses on designing the moldtype surface of the automotive steering column’s upper bracket general drawing andhydromechanical deep drawing. In the hydromechanical deep drawing forming process, therule of the effect of liquid chamber pressure loading mode on the forming is very complex,which is also the difficulty of this paper. Taking the parts’final distribution of the wallthickness after the completion of forming as the evaluation criteria, the paper analyzes therule of the effect of liquid chamber pressure loading mode on the automobile steeringcolumn forming, and studies the influence of different loading paths on aluminum alloyparts forming. Then through repeated simulation, the author comes up with a best loadingpath.
